Hiring Managers: Are you looking to make additions to your team this year?
In order to be successful, please remember the following employee expectations.
A candidate's first impression of a company will have an impact-deciding factor. And employees do NOT want a manager who is NOT authentic and empathetic.
According to the Future of Commerce, people are looking for companies that are focused on:
Putting people first: professional and personal circumstances are individual
Flexibility: work hours that fit their lifestyle
Shared purpose: companies that align with values, ethics, and have a good company culture
Overall well-being: companies with a holistic approach to mental, physical, and emotional health.
The Future of Commerce mentions that during the last two years, many full-time employees have transitioned into freelancers and contract workers.
But why is that?
This type of work has allowed them to select the projects they want to work on and companies they want to work for, in addition to when and how they want to work. The TOP priority for employees and employers since the pandemic became flexibility and control.
While the listed above is very important, flexible hours, higher pay, and strong benefits are the baseline, meaning that they aren’t enough to attract top talent.
Hybrid and remote work is here to stay because employers and employees have experienced the benefits and challenges of such work and were able to overcome these challenges during a global pandemic.
If you want to hire and retain top talent, keep this in mind:
Employers/companies that aren’t willing to give flexibility and understand that employees want a work-life balance, and save money by working remotely, will have a harder time recruiting and retaining employees.
One more thing that you should be aware of is to present everyone with the same opportunities. It promotes healthy competitiveness and professional development.
A recent study showed that most employees are looking for a growth path within their career, and 44% of employees feel like their current companies don’t offer compelling career paths.
Have you thought about the career paths for the years past hiring roles?
If not, maybe it’s time to think about it to ensure employees will look for growth opportunities within your organization.
Happy Hiring 2023!
