Ladies, Thank You

The Hunter Crown team is officially constructed of more ladies than men.

We are better off today because of this. It has become evident that adding more diversity to our team is a win-win and I hope we are fortunate enough to keep building this way. We will continue to hire and we encourage folks to come learn more about what makes our team so special.

Right now, I’d like to give a big shout out to the ladies in the room.

In speaking with a coworker this week, I was reminded of the support I receive that is completely unintentional and unprovoked. She and I were talking about the ups and downs of recruiting and how perspective, especially right now, is paramount to keep the atmosphere positive. My coworker stated her thoughts and presented an even-keeled approach to handling what we describe as our “worst days of work.” Keep in mind our worst days of work are extremely mild compared to most other workplaces, such as essential workers. During our conversation, I kept thinking that there seems to be this theme of rationality on the other side of the aisle. I couldn’t help but notice that every time I interact with one of my female coworkers, I’m instantly better. A better person with better perspective, more patience, more gratitude, and I end up being better at my job. There must be something in the water!

I find that my female colleagues are significantly more productive than I am. I also find the women in my life to be motivating, focused, organized, and educational. In fact, I’m a bit fearful they will make my skills and abilities obsolete at some point! These ladies make me want to be better, to do better. Can I catch up to them? I’m not sure, but that won’t be for a lack of trying.

Women, in general, have it harder in the workplace. They are on average paid less, promoted less, and hold less leadership positions than they should. Progress is being made on this front, but we are nowhere close to where we should be. When I look around at my team members, I see a winning mentality, a healthy level of support, and a desire to improve every day. No one falls short and we are extremely proud of that.

Now, to the moms out there, how in the heck do you do it!?

At one point, all we wanted to do was hire moms because we know they have that extra gear that we can never relate to. Stack a job on top of another full-time job and that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of working while parenting. Who wouldn’t want to hire these superhumans!?

Clearly, this is an appreciation post at a time when women will already be celebrated. It is International Women’s Day today and we just want to say thanks to the ladies! Thank you for doing more. Thank you for putting up with more. Thank you for being more. We appreciate you every day and we see you!

Keep inspiring us to be more like you and keep crushing it like you always have.
