I am a magician and I cast spells using words. Words ARE magic!
I just started reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and he shared these thoughts which immediately resonated with me.
Words are magic.
Consider this for a moment.
Words are a symbolic system that allow you to convey information, cause action, influence others, and affect your own interaction and understanding of the world.
Words start wars, words end wars, words launch companies, words sell companies. Words make “it” happen between us!
Because words are so powerful, it would then be best to understand when and how to use them.
Most people have NEVER received durable and regular training in how to use their words. They are untrained wizards flinging fireballs when a magic missile will do (shout out to all my DnD peeps)! Why did they say THAT? What did THAT mean? Etc. Lots of power with very little control. Scary.
As you set goals for what you want to do or achieve in 2022, think about how you can be more effective with your words. Perhaps you want to take a public speaking class or a short course in strategic business communication. You may even want to take this beyond your profession and invest time in learning how to use words that will be more effective with your partner or children. There really is no limit to the value you will reap by learning to be better with words.
