Changing With the Seasons

I’ve never cared much for New Year’s resolutions…

The pressure of making a resolution that you intend to keep and accomplish over the course of a year doesn’t appeal to me. Instead, I prefer to utilize the change in seasons as a time of reflection and goal setting. That’s four times a year set aside to reflect on and process and tweak your goals and intentions. Maybe your life looks different now than it did a year ago, and those previously set goals or resolutions don’t quite align with your future vision. THAT’S OK! Life is meant to be lived during the journey, not just when you reach the destination.

I encourage you to take a quiet moment and consider these prompts, both personally and professionally:

  1. What can I learn from the previous season that I can apply to the current one?

  2. What do I want to leave behind?

  3. Where do I want to focus my energy this next season?

  4. What do I want to spend my time on?

We are in the midst of a season change. Spring can be seen as a symbol of growth and renewal. The vibrant tulip heads are breaking through the still-cold soil, tree branches go from bare to green seemingly overnight, the robins are diligently keeping their eggs warm, and the days are getting longer. Mother Nature takes on a vibrant glow as she sheds her winter skin, creating a sense of possibility and optimism.

As we move from the stillness of winter into this next season of vitality, where will you be focusing your time and energy?
